Royston is a small town in North Hertfordshire with a big story to tell and its history is written not just in its beautiful architecture but also in the blue plaques telling of historic local events.

Many of the blue plaques are related to King James I (and the gunpowder plot!), but there are also other blue plaques commemorating different historical events related to the town.

As local scaffolders to Royston, we’ve had the privilege of working on some of the town’s most iconic and historic sites, and being proud locals, these plaques are a great reminder to what a historical little town this is.

Walking through Royston, you’ll find these plaques scattered across the area and we’ve trekked across the town in search of all of them! We think we’ve found them all! We believe there are 27 blue plaques in Royston (there may have been one more according to Google Streetview but we think this has been taken down recently).
